The recently approved 2026–27 New York State Budget includes several changes affecting members of Tier 5 and 6 retirement plan participants.

Human Resources has partnered with Emergency Management to clarify roles and expectations for employees during emergencies, including adverse weather, campus closures, or other unforeseen events that may impact normal operations.

Independence Day falls on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Another day will not be designated to be observed as a holiday by State employees in lieu of July 4, 2026. 

The tax preparation system, Sprintax, is available for international students and scholars to use to prepare 2025 taxes.

Currently active New York state (NYS), Research Foundation (RF)  and UB Foundation employees can access their W-2 reports online.  

The Governor’s Office of Employee Relations (GOER) and United University Professions (UUP) announced the allocation of funds for Individual Development Awards (IDA) for activity between July 2, 2025 and July 1, 2026.  Applications for projects or activities outside this timeframe will NOT be accepted.

The SUNY Board of Trustees announced that UB will align the minimum wage with the levels approved in the New York state budget.
