Start a Jabber Chat Session

Important:

Cisco Jabber will be retired as a UB service at the end of 2025. Use Cisco Call, integrated into Microsoft Teams, as a softphone option instead.

  1. Start a chat by selecting them from your roster.
  2. Make sure you are viewing contacts in your Jabber client, and double-click on any roster members to open a conversation window.
  3. You can also start a chat by selecting the chat activation icon, which resembles a blue circle with a speech bubble on it, which is available when you search for a contact, hover over their listing in your roster, or open a contact card by clicking on a person's avatar.
