Applicant Disqualification Reasons

Disqualify an applicant who does not meet the posted minimum qualifications of a position.  

After you disqualify applicants for not meeting minimum requirements, determine which candidates will be interviewed. As soon as you determine a candidate is not under consideration for an interview, disqualify him or her.

These are some reasons to not consider an applicant for an interview:

• Unable to contact
• Falsification of application
• Application information/materials is deficient
• Candidate ineligible to work in the US
• Withdrew from consideration
• Candidate lacks/has less relevant experience
• Candidate lacks/has less relevant education/training/licensure
• Candidate lacks preferred qualifications (education/experience/skill level)
• Weak publication record
• Research experience not applicable
• Insufficient teaching experience
• Position cancelled
• External posting cancelled
• Duplicate application

• Candidate withdrew from consideration
• Candidate ineligible to work in the U..S.
• Candidate showed little interest or motivation in position
• Falsification of application
• Interview showed inconsistency with application information
• Interview showed weak communication skills
• Interview showed lack of or less relevant experience
• Interview showed lack of or less relevant education, training or licensure
• Interview showed lack of or less understanding of the position
• Salary requirements too high
• Poor reference information
• Weak publication record
• Research experience not applicable
• Insufficient teaching experience
• First alternate
• Second alternate
• Position cancelled
