Jacob Neiheisel Analyzes NYC Mayoral Race

The National News Desk quoted political scientist Jacob Neiheisel in an article about the New York City mayoral race among Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa.

The News Desk featured political scientist Jacob Neiheisel, associate professor of political science from the University at Buffalo, in an article examining the New York City mayoral race.

Neiheisel said Zohran Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist, remains the favorite after Mayor ndrew Cuomo may gain some centrist support but added that Mamdani is still “the smart money at this point.”

Neiheisel described Mamdani’s rise as “a perfect storm,” helped by voter frustration with well-known but controversial opponents. He also said a Mamdani win would likely not signal a major national shift, since New York City’s politics are unique compared to much of the country.
