Forbes Highlights UB’s DeepFake-o-Meter in Investigation of False Alzheimer’s Product Ads

Forbes  utilized Siwei Lyu's Deep Fake-o-Meter to discredit online advertisements for a honey-based product claiming to prevent Alzheimer’s disease. 
 

Prof. Siwei Lyu, director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, was recently referenced in Forbes for the work of UB’s Media Forensic Lab and its DeepFake-o-Meter tool. The article examined false online advertisements for honey-based products claiming to prevent or cure Alzheimer’s disease, including ads that used fake celebrity endorsements and misleading news-style formats. The DeepFake-o-Meter was noted as a useful resource for checking whether suspicious images, videos or audio may have been generated or manipulated by AI.
