CII Members Named SUNY Distinguished Professors
The State University of New York (SUNY) names eight SUNY Distinguished Professors in May 2025. Two of them--that is 25%--were CII members!
Dr. Jennifer Read and Dr. Siwei Lyu, esteemed faculty members at the University at Buffalo, have been named SUNY Distinguished Professors — the highest academic rank in the State University of New York system.
They are among eight UB faculty members to receive this prestigious honor in recognition of their international stature and exceptional scholarly contributions across diverse fields, including law, medicine, urban planning, psychology, computer science, architecture, and operations management.
Dr. Jennifer Read, professor and chair of the Department of Psychology, was recognized for her influential research on trauma and substance use. Her work has attracted over $17 million in federal funding and earned more than 18,600 citations, reflecting its significant impact in the field.
Dr. Siwei Lyu, Empire Innovation Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, was honored for his pioneering contributions to multimedia forensics, particularly in detecting deepfakes and combating misinformation. With more than $11.5 million in research support, his efforts have helped establish UB as a national leader in media forensics research.
