Kari Winter, professor in the Department of Global Gender and Sexuality Studies, was quoted in HuffPost about Sen. Markwayne Mullin’s confirmation hearing as nominee for secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Winter said that “genuine leaders in law enforcement are judicious, impartial, deliberative, and capable of analyzing complex situations calmly,” but argued that Mullin is instead “impulsive, fanatically partisan, and ideologically vaccinated against evidence.”
