Comprehensive Fee Waiver

The Comprehensive Fee is paid by all students at the University at Buffalo, unless they meet fee waiver criteria.

Who Qualifies for a Comprehensive Fee Waiver?

Students enrolled in one of the following programs are entitled to a Comprehensive Fee Waiver:

  1. Students in exclusively online academic programs that have been previously approved by the Provost’s Office and registered by the New York State Education Department. These programs are in distance education format, consistent with the student’s intention to take courses exclusively online at the time of application and matriculation toward the degree.
  2. High school students who are enrolled in high school programs (i.e., School of Public Health and Health Professions’ Pathway Camp program, Gifted Math program).

Fee Waiver Criteria

Effective fall 2020, UB will automatically waive certain fees for students who meet the following criteria.

Fees (if applicable) waived for students enrolled in exclusively online academic programs and high school students who are enrolled in high school programs:

  • Health Fee
  • Transportation Fee
  • Campus Life Fee
  • Recreation Fee
  • Athletic Fee

Fees waived for students in School of Management, School of Law, School of Dental Medicine, and Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences:

  • Career Services Fee

Waivers will not be granted for the following fees:

  • Academic Excellence and Success Fee (ACES)
  • College Fee
  • Technology Fee
  • Transcript Fee
