Transformative Pilot Research Project (TPRP) Proposals

What: Home-BASE expects to fund 2-4 Transformative Pilot Research Projects for the 2015-2016 AY. The proposals should be for one-year projects that test new ideas and show promise for external grant funding. Proposals that involve faculty from at least two schools are encouraged.

Funding of up to 35K from Home-BASE can be requested. A 1:1 match for funding requests is required.

Scope: Proposals should address issues that are of relevance to the promotion of health and well-being through home environments and technologies. For example, projects could address research challenges in home environments for health and well-being, home-based assistive technologies that address disability, or home health informatics.

Review Process: Proposals will be reviewed by an ad hoc panel of faculty who will make recommendations to the Home-BASE Center, which will then make the final selection. The proposals will be reviewed according to these selection criteria (100 point scale):

 Scientific, scholarly, or creative merit (25 points)

 Innovation and potential impact on health and well-being (25 points)

 Qualifications of project investigative team (25 points)

 Potential for generating external funding (25 points)

Decisions will be made by June 26, 2015.

A short summary of the results and implications, list of the related publications (completed, in progress or planned) and anticipated external funding proposals are required at the conclusion of the project.
