The Buffalo Institute for Genomics and Data Analytics (BIG) is transforming genomic medicine nationally while building the healthcare economy regionally.
It is the result of a governor-authorized $100 million collaboration between the University at Buffalo and the New York Genome Center in Manhattan. NYS Gov. Andrew Cuomo selected UB because of its expertise in high performance computing and its recognized leadership in genomics and analysis of patient data. UB's resources include the Center for Computational Research, the New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, and the Institute for Healthcare Informatics, all centers on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.
