Our Mass Spectrometry facility specializes in proteomics, PK/PD, lipidomics, metabolomics and biopharmaceutical analysis. The Center is a regional resource for UB researchers and regional investigators, providing state-of-the art instrumentation and expertise in proteomics and bioanalysis. We operate as a collaborative scientific service core, developing analytical strategies that address significant bioanalytical challenges—advancing knowledge in a variety of applications. The final analytical strategies often represent combined developments in instrumentation, sample processing and data analysis. We run support services for Fortune 500 companies, such as Merck and Johnson & Johnson. Our team of experts work with organizations such as Thermo Fisher Scientific and others to solve problems.
The facility has several main research foci:
- Ultra-sensitive quantification of small-molecule analyses, such as drugs, metabolites and biomolecules
- Comprehensive protein expression profiling and differential proteome analysis
- Ultra-sensitive quantification of proteins/peptides
Facility and equipment
The facility houses three mass spectrometers: high-resolution Thermo Lumos ETD, Thermo Quantiva triple-quad and the Thermo Altis. With these capabilities, the PBC partners with industry and can conduct label-free quantitative proteome analysis, sequence de novo peptides, identify proteins/peptides and characterize proteins.
