Is there an interview and vetting process for tutor-mentor selection?
Prospective tutor-mentors will be interviewed and assessed on their ability to provided academic support. After completing a successful interview, all tutor-mentors must complete and pass all NYS fingerprinting requirements and receive ongoing professional development.
Will there be training and ongoing professional development support for tutor-mentors?
Tutor-mentors receive culturally responsive training and ongoing professional development that will set them up for success.
Who are the students being tutored through this program?
Students in grades 5-12 in Buffalo Public Schools, Erie 1 BOCES or a Buffalo Charter Schools.
What grade/learning levels are covered?
- 5th-6th
- 7th-8th
- 9th-12th
What format is tutoring administered?
Academic guidance is offered by appointment in one-to-one online tutoring sessions
What is the timeframe to provide tutor-mentoring services?
- Academic guidance is offered by appointment and drop-in sessions in a one-to-one virtual format.
- Tutoring is offered virtually Tuesday through Thursday from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.
