Usage Guidance

The guidance in this section pertains to UB Athletics primary marks, wordmarks and team lockups.

Restrictions

Always:

  • Maintain the proportion, order and spacing shown in all applications.
  • Include the correct trademark symbol (™) next to each mark when reproduced.
  • Consistently apply border outlines to both the spirit mark and wordmarks when used together.

Never:

  • Alter the marks in any way. This includes changing the color, size or format, as well as adding visual effects such as shadowing, 3D treatments, etc.
  • Incorporate other graphical or textual elements to form a new mark.
  • Combine or lockup Athletics marks with other logos or marks
  • Have a border outline on the spirit mark but not the wordmark, if shown together.
  • Reproduce a mark over or under another design, type, patterned background or photographic element.
  • Include the SUNY abbreviation.

Small Sizes

A special set of wordmarks is available for use at a small scale. These adjusted versions should be used for any application 3 inches wide or smaller. Use good judgment to ensure legibility. A mark that is too small serves no communicative function.

Clear Space

Adequate clear space of one-half the letter height should be observed around the spirit mark and wordmarks in all uses.

Color Combinations

Athletics marks can be used in the following color combinations. However, the combination of UB Blue on Townsend Gray is not suitable for digital applications, as it does not meet accessibility requirements. It should be reserved for print applications such as limited-edition apparel.
