Gowns for Grads

Graduation is a time to celebrate achievement and look forward to new opportunities. Walking the stage at commencement is a dream for many after years of hard work. However, each year, a number of UB students are unable to participate in a commencement ceremony because they cannot afford to purchase a cap and gown.

To allow as many students as possible to realize their dreams and celebrate success, Student Life offers the Gowns for Grads program for those who would otherwise not be able to participate in commencement.

Academic advisors or Student Life staff may nominate a student who is in need. A complete nomination should include who the student is, your relationship to them, and a brief description of the challenging circumstances the student may be navigating. Once nominated, the student may be contacted by staff in the Dean of Students Office with instructions.

The cost of full regalia for students is approximately $100 and support for this program comes from generous donations from the UB community. Consider contributing to Gowns for Grads this year.
