Facility/Room: Characteristics

Understand the room characteristics field, which is used to identify classes that need special features such as specific technology, seating and furniture types, or to request a computer lab.

1. Select the “Class Scheduling” tile.

2. Select “Maintain Schedule of Classes” from the sub-navigation menu.

3. Enter the term, subject area and catalog number and click on search.

Additional search criteria is optional. Select the course from the search results.

4. Update the Room Characteristic field to identify special requests for each individual section and save.

Room Characteristic Definitions

  • The following room characteristics are used to request special features in Centrally Scheduled Spaces.
  • Use of these characteristics does not guarantee seating in a particular room. 
  • The Scheduling Office will use these features to accommodate as many requests as possible.
  • These features should only be used to indicate requests due to pedagogical needs, not faculty preferences.

Capture and project content for presentations.

Chalkboard

Request a classroom with a chalkboard.

Recording and Livestreaming

Built-in camera and microphone for do-it-yourself recording or web conferencing. Use the internal PC to record your class on Panopto using the microphone and camera built into the classroom. The camera and mic may be integrated into the teaching station monitor. Recording captures camera, audio and anything you share on the internal PC.

Tables and Chairs Fixed

Tables and/or chairs are fixed to the floor and are not movable.

Tables and Chairs Flexible

Tables and/or chairs are movable and accommodate flexible seating in the classroom.

Tablet Arm Chair Fixed

Tablet arm chairs are fixed to the floor and are not movable.

Tablet Arm Chair Flexible

Tablet arm chairs move freely and accommodate flexible seating in the classroom.
