Class Setup Examples

Learn how course data and instruction modes should be set up under Maintain Schedule of Classes in HUB.

Please note: Multi-component courses can have different instruction modes for each section. (Example: LEC can be remote and REC can be in person).

Examples of What the HUB Class Section Should Look Like for Each Instruction Mode

Basic Data

  • Campus/Location should indicate where the class meets.
  • Instruction Mode “P” indicates that the class meets in person.

Meetings

  • Facility ID should indicate the room where the class meets.
  • The Pat field should indicate the days of the week on which the class meets. Ensure that start/end time and start/end dates are accurate.
  • There must be at least one instructor listed with the role of Primary Instructor, and that person should have Post access. Make sure all instructor information is complete and accurate. 
  • HUB only displays two instructors by default, but if you click on the “View All” link above then it will display more.

Basic Data

  • Campus/Location should match where the in-person portion of the class meets.
  • Instruction Mode should be “HY” if the class meets both in person and remote.

Meetings

  • There should be at least two meeting patterns. One to indicate the room where the class meets. The other to indicate the remote component.
  • The Pat field should indicate the days of the week on which the class meets. Ensure that start/end time and start/end dates are accurate.
  • Instructor should be listed by person number, and granted Post access

Enrollment Control

  • Requested Room Capacity should reflect the desired capacity.
  • Enrollment Capacity should not exceed room capacity.

Basic Data

  • Campus/Location should indicate where the class meets for the in-person portion.
  • If students have the option of attending in person or remote, then select “HF” for HyFlex.

Meetings

  • There should be at least two meeting patterns. One to indicate the room where the class meets. The other to indicate the remote component.
  • The Pat field should indicate the days of the week on which the class meets. Ensure that start/end time and start/end dates are accurate.
  • Instructor should be listed by person number, and granted Post access.

  • Select “OL” for the instruction mode.

Meetings

  • Facility ID should indicate 1322 (Remote).
  • The Pat field should indicate the days of the week on which the class meets.
  • Ensure that start/end time and start/end dates are accurate.
  • Instructor should be listed by person number, and granted Post access.

Basic Data

  • Campus/Location should indicate VT/REMOTE.
  • Select “OC” for the instruction mode.

Meetings

  • Facility ID should indicate 1322 (Remote).
  • The Pat field should indicate the days of the week on which the class meets.
  • Ensure that start/end time and start/end dates are accurate.
  • Instructor should be listed by person number, and granted Post access.

Basic Data

  • Campus/Location should indicate VT/REMOTE.
  • Select “OR” for the instruction mode.

Meetings

  • Facility ID should indicate 1322 (Remote).
  • Instructor should be listed by person number, and granted Post access.
