Wi-Fi for Guests at UB

Visitors whose schools participate in eduroam can connect to eduroam at UB. Configure your device while still at your school. Once at UB:

1. Select eduroam from the available Wi-Fi networks.
2. Log in using your school email address and password.

Contact your school's IT support for help using eduroam at UB, not UB's IT support.

You are bound by the host institution's network and security policies. Some services may not be available if they rely on something prohibited or blocked by UB. eduroam is a secure Wi-Fi network.

Step 1: Create a guest account

You need to create a guest account before you can connect as a guest for the first time.  

1. Select UB_Connect from the available Wi-Fi networks on your device.

2. Open a Web browser and enter http://connect.buffalo.edu in the address bar. 

3. Click Login as Guest

3. Click Sign up for an account under More.

4. Enter:

• Your first and last name in the Your Name field.
• Your non-UB email address in the Email Address field.

5. Check the box to accept the terms of use. 

6. Click Create Account.

7. A browser will open. Log into your email using the browser. You have up to 30 minutes to check your email for your UB guest password.

Step 2: Each time you want to connect for a 30-minute session you must follow these steps:

1.Select UB_Connect Wi-Fi

2. Go to http://connect.buffalo.edu

3. Enter your email address in the Username field.

4. Enter the password sent to your email in the Password field.

6. Click Log In. You will have up to 30 minutes of internet access through a web browser.

Step 1: Create a guest account as described in Method 2, above.

You need to create a guest account before you can register your device.

Step 2: Register your device

1. Open a Web browser and enter http://connect.buffalo.edu in the address bar.

2. Click Login as Guest

3. Click Register this device, under More.

4. Enter your email address in the Username field. 

5. Enter the UB Guest password sent to your email in the Password field.

6. Click Log In.

7. Enter a unique name for your device, such as Jane’s Macbook.

8. If the MAC Address is not filled in, enter the MAC Address for your device.

9. Click Create Device.

10. Your device is now registered. 

Step 3: Connect your registered device to the UB_Devices network each time you want to connect, for up to 6 months of guest access to the internet through a web browser.

• Wired connection: Reboot your device and it will connect automatically.
• Wireless connection:
  
  1. Select UB_Devices from the available UB Wi-Fi networks
  2. Enter the password goubbulls
  3. Click Join
