Configuring eduroam Wi-Fi for Windows

Set up your Windows device so that it automatically connect to eduroam, UB’s secure, preferred Wi-Fi network, whenever you are on campus.

Instructions

1. Remove the old eduroam configuration, if needed

If this device connected to eduroam before August 10, 2026, follow the steps below. Otherwise, skip to 2. Configure your device for eduroam.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Click Network & Internet
  3. On the left hand side click Wi-Fi
  4. Click Manage known networks
  5. Click eduroam
  6. Click Forget

2. Configure your device for eduroam

1. Determine if you are off campus or on campus:

  • Off campus:
  • On campus
    1. Click the Wi-Fi icon in your system tray in the lower right corner of your screen and select UB Connect from your available Wi-Fi networks
    2. Open your web browser and go to http://connect.buffalo.edu

2. Click Start Connection Wizard

3. Click Configure and Connect

4. Click Save File

5. In the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, click the File Explorer icon.

6. Click Downloads

7. Click WiFi_University_at_Buffalo.exe

8. If you receive a pop-up that says Windows protected your PC, click the text link that says More Info

9. Click Run anyway

10. Click Next

11. Enter your UBITName and UBITName Password in their respective fields

12. Once the status bar is complete, click Done

13. Re-start your device.

When you arrive at UB, check your device to make sure it connects to eduroam Wi-Fi.
