Recover My Duo Two-Step Verification

If you received a new phone with the same number, started enrolling a device but could not complete the enrollment process, or if your device is lost, broken or stolen, follow the steps below to recover your account.

Instructions

Note: It is recommended to complete these steps from a computer, not the device you are trying to enroll.

  1. Go to the Duo Two-Step Verification Manager
  2. Click Recover My Duo Two Step Verification
  3. Obtain a passcode by one of three methods:
    • Request a text message to your previously enrolled mobile phone
    • Use a passcode you had generated in the past
    • Contact the UBIT Help Center
  4. Open the device manager
  5. Authenticate with your UBITName and password
  6. When prompted by Duo click Other options
  7. Select Bypass code
  8. Enter one of the provided bypass codes
  9. If you got stuck during the enrollment process, choose Device Options next to the device you began to enroll, Activate or Reactivate Duo Mobile and follow the on-screen steps
  1. Log into the Duo Two-Step Verification Manager with your UBITName and password
  2. Click Recover My Duo Two Step Verification
  3. Obtain a passcode by one of three methods:
    • Request a text message to your previously enrolled mobile phone
    • Use a passcode you had generated in the past
    • Contact the UBIT Help Center
  4. Open the device manager
  5. Authenticate with your UBITName and password
  6. When prompted by Duo click Other options
  7. Select Bypass code
  8. Enter one of the provided bypass codes
  9. If you are adding a new device to replace a broken, lost or stolen device, click +Add another device and follow the on-screen steps

  3. Obtain a passcode by one of three methods:
    • Request a text message to your previously enrolled mobile phone
    • Use a passcode you had generated in the past
    • Contact the UBIT Help Center
  4. Open the device manager
  5. Authenticate with your UBITName and password
  6. When prompted by Duo click Other options
  7. Select Bypass code
  8. Enter one of the provided bypass codes
  9. Click +Add another device and follow the on-screen steps

If you did not print out Duo passcodes, the UBIT Help Center can help. Choose from the following options:

Upload a picture of your Government Issued ID:

Upload the following information to a secure UBbox location at https://buffalo.app.box.com/f/aa6488c5f2a544d08daaa938268929af

  • Your full name
  • Non-UB email address
  • A telephone number where you can be reached during UBIT Help Center business hours
  • A copy of photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport) that:
    • Is government-issued
    • Shows your date of birth
    • Is in English
    • Is legible
    • Is current (not expired)

Bring photo I.D. in person:

Access is currently restricted to UB students, faculty and staff. Bring photo ID to the UB Tech Squad counter in 3rd floor Silverman (North Campus). Your photo I.D. must meet the same requirements as uploading, above. A UB Card with your picture on it is only accepted at the UB Tech Squad counter.
