What we do for the UB community

IT Customer Experience (ITCX) is responsible for the front‑line support and technology‑enabled learning environments that shape how students, faculty and staff experience IT at UB. The unit brings together the UBIT Help Center, UB Tech Squad, public computing sites, printing, customer device support, classroom technology support, video capture and learning space design.

Who we support

  • Students needing assistance with personal devices, printing and public computing spaces.
  • Faculty and instructors using classroom technologies and lecture capture.
  • Administrative unit endpoint device management

What we provide

  • UBIT Help Center support by phone and online for people using UBIT services.
  • UB Tech Squad in‑person and on‑site support for student personal devices.
  • Public computing sites and centralized printing services across campus.
  • Classroom technology support for UBIT‑supported teaching spaces.
  • Video capture and streaming services for courses and events.
  • Design and maintenance of technology in UB’s classrooms and learning spaces.

When you might work with us

  • You need help with UB‑provided IT services such as logging in with your UBITName or connecting to Wi-Fi.
  • You are teaching in a classroom and need assistance with installed technology or lecture capture.
  • You have questions about public computing spaces or student printing.

Barb Vasbinder joined the university and UBIT in 2002. Her career for 20+ years prior was focused in the telecommunications/call center design industry. Barbara served as a manager in UBIT Customer Experience for 10 years prior to taking the role of Interim Director in January 2026. During her tenure at UB, she led the conversion of multiple UB phones systems to the enterprise Cisco VoIP service.
