Make an Appointment

If you need to see a doctor or nurse for medical care, start by making an appointment with Health Services.

On this page:

Who Can Make an Appointment

Health Services offers assistance to all UB students’ regardless of the type of health insurance plan they have. You do not need to be insured through one of UB’s health insurance plans to utilize Health Services; however, you DO need to be registered for the current semester.

For Students Under 18

New York State law requires the consent of a parent/guardian for medical care (reproductive and sexual health care excluded) of persons under 18 years of age. If you are under 18, your parent will need to give us written consent to treat you.

Costs

There is no cost to see any of the health care providers at Health Services (however, there may be a charge for immunizations, labwork and other services, depending on your health insurance).

One Appointment Per Day

Patients are limited to one appointment per day with a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.

How to Make an Appointment

An appointment is required to see a healthcare provider. If you need to see a doctor or nurse for medical care, please call Health Services at 716-829-3316 to make an appointment. Please note that due to current COVID-19 precautions, most patients are initially evaluated via a telehealth (video) appointment. During your telehealth appointment, the healthcare provider will determine if an in-person appointment will also be necessary.

Same-Day Appointments Available

If you are ill or injured, we often have same-day appointments available. Contact Health Services to make an appointment.

Care When We're Closed

Call 716-829-3316 and listen to the phone message, which will give you instructions for how to reach the after-hours nurse when our office is closed.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

  1. Your UB ID Card: The receptionist will use this card during the check-in process.
  2. Your health insurance card: Have the original, a copy, or a photo of the card on your phone. If you do not have health insurance, you can still see one of our health care providers.
Worried About Your Privacy?

To maintain confidentiality, contact your health insurance company and ask that any “Explanation of Benefits” involving you be sent directly to you and no one else.
