Principal Investigators (PI's) have responsibility for the health and safety of the individuals they supervise, for safe management of the laboratories or facilities they operate and for the impacts of their activities on the environment and the health & safety of the public.
Environmental Health & Safety Assistant (EHSA) is a web-based app that allows Principal Investigators and laboratory workers to maintain a chemical inventory, track the training of individuals in the lab, request a pickup of hazardous waste and more.
The Office of Environment, Health and Safety provides information, guidance, and training in Biosafety fundamentals, regulatory affairs (federal, state and local) and works closely with the various University committees that oversee research at the University at Buffalo.
The UB Radiation Safety Program complies with the rules, regulations, licenses and permits issued by the New York State Department of Health and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for the safe use of radioactive materials and radiation producing equipment at the University at Buffalo.
