Connect and configure your audio devices for Jabber

Learn how to connect your headset and choose your audio devices.

Connect your headset

If you are using a USB telephone headset, plug it into your your computer’s USB port with the appropriate cable. (See View and order supported phone equipment).

Choose your audio device

  1. From the Jabber app, select:
    • Windows: The Gear and choose Settings, then click Audio
    • Mac: Select Jabber > Preferences > Audio/Video (you may need to use the >>> arrows to show Audio/Video options) 
  2. Select the audio device you want to use for 
    • Ringer & Alerts - Where you want the incoming call to ring
    • Audio Call Output - Where you will hear the audio from those on your call
    • Microphone - What will pick up your voice audio
  3.  If you have multiple audio devices, click Advanced and select the order of preference to use with Jabber, then click OK
  4. Click OK or close the window
 
If you use a Cisco headset, Jabber will open a dialog to tell you if it needs updating, and shows progress.
