Your orientation program is designed to get you started with:

  • Connecting with other UB students, and with faculty and staff
  • Learning about the resources and services available to help you excel during your time at UB and beyond

The new student fee covers all expenses associated with your New to UB experience, including Summer Orientation, Welcome Weekend, Year One and your academic planning. The $120 fee will be billed on your student account.

Where to Go

Check-in for Summer Orientation takes place in the Student Union on the University at Buffalo’s North Campus.  If you are using a GPS device for navigation, enter Jarvis B Lot, University at Buffalo.

What to Bring

  • Photo identification (passport, military ID, driver’s license or non-driver’s ID)
  • Any recent college transcripts

Non-Perishable Food Donation

You may choose to support Blue Table by bringing a non-perishable food item to your Summer Orientation. Learn more about UB's virtual food pantry service.

Where to Stay

If you need local accommodations, you may wish to reserve a hotel near UB’s North Campus.  Check here for a list of hotels that offer discounts and support to Student Life programs and services. 

If you selected the August 22 orientation session and you will be living on campus, you should plan to move into your residence hall on August 21. On August 21, stop first at the orientation office (112 Student Union) to pick up your UB Card prior to move-in. Please visit the move-in website for additional arrival instructions.

Before You Attend

  • Submit immunization records. You must meet this requirement before registering for classes.
  • Respond promptly to your academic advisor and take any action steps they advise to finalize your fall class schedule. 
  • Beginning May 1, upload a photo for your UB Card. We will have your UB Card ready for you when you check in to Summer Orientation.
  • If you plan to bring a car to campus this fall, register for your Parking Permit online (requires UBIT name/password). Select to have this mailed to you. 
  • Complete to-do list items for financial aid located in your HUB Student Center (access through MyUB, requires UBIT name/password).


Welcome Weekend prepares you for the start of classes through a semi-structured series of events.
