Thanksgiving without Borders

Thanksgiving Without Borders banner.

For many people in the U.S., Thanksgiving represents a time to gather with family and/or friends to reconnect, enjoy each other's company and share a wonderful meal together.  Every year UB's faculty, staff and alumni demonstrate their generous spirit by hosting Thanksgiving dinner for a number of our international students. This year, International Student Services and the Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence are proud to organize the 6th Annual Thanksgiving without Borders at UB; making it possible for more international students to experience the many ways that American’s celebrate Thanksgiving.

How the Program Works

Hosts Students

Faculty, Staff, and Alumni Hosts

UB faculty, staff, and alumni who are interested in serving as a host family should complete the registration form linked below. A committee will review your form and match host families with compatible international students.

By Thursday, November 14, host families will receive:

  • The names and contact information of student guests
  • A link to learn more about the student’s home countries
  • Tips for hosting international students in your home

Host families will be expected to contact their guests prior to Thanksgiving Day to introduce themselves and discuss logistics, such as arrival time and what student guests should expect that day.
