Changes to EV Charging Effective September 8

The University at Buffalo is transitioning from an hourly charge rate to a kWh rate for electric vehicles effective Tuesday, September 8, to reflect similar practices at SUNY institutions.
The new rate is 30 cents per kWh, which is a decrease for users. This change to a kWh rate will create greater equity, as different vehicles tend to charge at different rates.
The charging limit will increase from four hours until your vehicle is fully charged.
After the battery is filled or the charger has reached its limit, you will have a grace period of one hour to move your vehicle.
If the grace period is exceeded, the ChargePoint system will bill you $5 each hour you stay in the spot without charging. This practice is being implemented to ensure that our entire campus community has the ability to charge their vehicles and not just a subset of drivers.
