AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client: Windows Download

AnyConnect is Virtual Private Network (VPN) software required to securely connect to UB services from off campus, including My Virtual Computing Lab and UBfs. AnyConnect is the recommended VPN client at UB.

Operating System: Windows 11 (64-bit), current Microsoft supported versions of Windows 10 x86 (32-bit) and x64 (64-bit), and Windows 8.1.

Applies To: UB students, faculty and staff using UB VPN; UB faculty and staff using Departmental VPNs or AdminVPN

Windows 11 ARM Client

Some devices are ARM-based, and should use this download instead of the standard AnyConnect download. This download has not been tested at UB.

IT Staff: There is currently no start before login module for the ARM-based device download.

Install AnyConnect

You must be your computer's administrator to install this software.  

These instructions are for the standard version of AnyConnect, not the version for ARM-based devices.

  1. Download AnyConnect.
  2. Double click on the Cisco AnyConnect software icon. (If using Windows 8.1, from the Start screen, tap or click the Desktop tile, then tap or click the Libraries icon in the Navigation pane. Tap or click Downloads, then double-click on the Cisco AnyConnect software icon.)
  3. Click on Next on the Welcome screen.
  4. Click on the bubble beside I accept the terms in the License Agreement.
  5. Click Next on the End-User License Agreement screen.
  6. Click Install on the Ready to Install screen.
  7. Depending on your computer’s security level you may be prompted by Windows to allow the AnyConnect client to change your PC. Accept the prompt to continue.
  8. Click Finish to complete the installation.
