Explore new features with updated Zoom App

If you are using a UB-owned/managed device, your Zoom client is regularly updated by your departmental IT support, and no action is needed.

If you can't update the app on a personal device, see this workaround to join a restricted Zoom meeting with and out-of-date app or from a web browser.    

Good reasons to update. Using the latest version of software is a best practice that ensures you benefit from the latest security features.

Keeping Zoom updated also means you’ll enjoy the new, useful features introduced to Zoom in recent months, including:

• Whiteboards
• Support for Q&A in meetings- Hosts can enable the Q&A panel in meetings to gather participant questions instead of using chat.
• Improved sign language interpretation
• Automatically show captions when available - Meeting participants and webinar attendees can select, through the client accessibility settings, to have automated captioning automatically appear, if captions are available in the meeting or webinar.
• New meeting chat experience - Participants can delete their messages, reply in threads, quote, use rich text formatting capture and send screenshots, and react to messages with emojis.
• Create breakout rooms based on poll results - Hosts can choose to create breakout rooms based on the participants' poll answers. For example, the meeting host may want to split breakout rooms based on participants who share similar interests.
