Computers & Electronic Equipment
UB began recycling its computers and electronics in 2000. We ensure our service provider is certified in the two industry-leading recycling standards known as R2 and RIOS, and is classified as a Certified Electronics Recycler. R2/RIOS ensure recyclers uphold a zero landfill policy, allow audits of their data destruction procedures and ensure environmental health and safety best practices.
- Complete a Disposal of Equipment form and have it signed by the department inventory coordinator and the Chair or department head.
- Contact UB Facilities to place a work order to have the item picked up and disposed.
- Scan, attach a copy of the signed form to an email to UB Inventory to remove the asset from the inventory.
- Label the item as "Electronic Recycling".

The above guidelines are intended for UB property. UB cannot recycle personal property through our institutional contract.
UB hosts an annual community recycling event each April for personal property. If you have an immediate need to recycle items from home, please consult your local municipality or county government.
