Once you have completed Steps 1 and 2, academic advisors will help you register for classes.

Prior to working with an academic advisor to register for classes, new students must resolve the following list items:

Find Your Registration Information

The process and timeline for working with your academic advisor to register for classes vary depending on your major and/or advising center.  The chart below summarizes the course registration process and timeline for your intended major/academic advising unit. If you have not completed steps 1 and 2, you should complete those before course registration.

To find your timeline, choose the semester you will start at UB from the tabs below, then utilize your advisor code and student type. Your advisor code is assigned after you submit your Orientation Data Form; check your confirmation email to learn your advisor code. If you change your major, your advisor code may change.

AED

School of Architecture and Planning

ATH

Athletics Academic Services

If you are a student athlete currently undecided in your major, you will be advised by the Office of Athlete Academic and Student Excellence. Your academic advisor will contact you within one week of receiving your orientation data form to set up a phone or in-person advising appointment. ATH Advising Info

CAS

College of Arts and Sciences

Beginning in November, CAS advisors will send students a letter or email within one week of receiving orientation data form, instructing them to submit immunization records and call CAS advising at 716-645-6883 to schedule an advising appointment. CAS Advising Info

EOP

Educational Opportunity Program

Not applicable.

Beginning in December, EOP advisors will call or email students within one week of receiving the orientation data form to arrange a phone or in-person advising appointment. EOP Advising Info

EPAC

Exploratory and Pre-Professional Advising Center

Beginning in late November, EPAC advisors will call or email students within two weeks of receiving the orientation data form instructing them to call 716-645-6013 to schedule a phone or in-person advising appointment. EPAC Advising Info

JSMBS

Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences

Beginning in November, JSMBS advisors will email students within two weeks of receiving orientation data form. Once immunization records are received, students will be emailed again with course registration instructions. JSMBS Advising Info

LAW

School of Law

MG

School of Management

Beginning in Mid-November, MG advisors will partially register students for classes (based on Math and English placement) and will email information for how to view the course schedule in HUB. Students are then expected to finalize their schedules by adding the UB seminar within five days of receiving this schedule. MG Advising Info

MG advisors will call students within one week of receiving orientation data form to gather additional information and alert them to check email for detailed instructions, including specific courses to add and information on how to register at UB. Students are then expected to register themselves for the courses. MG Advising Info

NUR

School of Nursing

Beginning in mid-November, NUR advisors email students within 10 business days of receiving orientation data form, with instructions to call 716-829-3350 to schedule a phone/in-person advising appointment. NUR Advising Info

SEASBE, SEASCE, SEASCIEENV, SEASCSCEN, SEASEAS, SEASEEGP, SEASIE, SEASMEASE

School of Engineering and Applied Sciences

Beginning in mid-November, SEAS advisors will call or email students within two weeks of receiving the orientation data form to discuss classes. SEAS Advising Info

 

Beginning in mid-November, SEAS advisors will call or email students within two weeks of receiving the orientation data form to set up a phone/in-person advising appointment. You must have an admissions decision from SEAS prior to working with an advisor on course registration. SEAS Advising Info

SPHHP

School of Public Health and Health Professions

Beginning in November, SPHHP advisors will utilize the orientation data form to register first-year students into appropriate classes. Within two weeks, students will then be contacted by email to schedule their own UB seminar and review their schedule. SPHHP Advising Info

SPHHP advisors will email students within two weeks of receiving orientation data form to schedule an advising appointment. During this appointment, SPHHP advisors will discuss transfer credit and an academic plan will be created. The plan will be emailed to the student so that they may register themselves appropriately. SPHHP Advising Info

SPPS

School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Beginning in mid-November, SPPS advisors will register students for classes and then email students their schedule within one week of receiving the orientation data form. SPPS Advising Info
