Learn more about UB ISS Academic Success Workshops designed to assist new incoming & continuing undergraduate international students with navigating the academic rigors of a US university.
New incoming and continuing undergraduate international students are strongly encouraged to attend the workshops listed below to learn about various academic success topics and meet other new incoming international students as well as UB Staff and Offices that can assist them with their academic success at UB and beyond!
International Undergraduate Students are invited to attend this event to meet UB Staff that are available to assist them with their academic success their first semester. UB Staff include the ISS Student Success Advisor, CEW (Center for Excellence in Writing) and TASS (Tutoring and Academic Support Services). Hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows, and assorted Timbit donut holes will be provided!
Join the ISS Student Success Advisor and the ISS Academic Success Student Advocates for free pie as we cover the topic of conducting presentations and what it means to participate in a US university classroom. It can be nerve-racking to speak up in class or present information to a group of people, so this is an opportunity to learn how to do both! It's also an excellent opportunity to make some new friends and meet the ISS Student Success Advisor and the amazing ISS Academic Success Student Advocates who are here to support you!!
The Center for Excellence in Writing (CEW) will address the controversial topic of the use of AI tools in the writing process. In this session, you will learn what AI does well and what it does not do well at all! You will also receive guidelines about the ethical and developmental uses of AI and how to avoid academic integrity violations. Bring all the questions you have!
Join TASS (Tutoring & Academic Support Services) and ISS to uncover the different learning styles, reveal which one most relates to you and how to leverage this information to increase your academic success through this interactive and informative workshop. It’s an opportunity to be reflective and strategic to make the most of your education all while enjoying some delicious scones and tea!
As you assimilate to the University at Buffalo and its American educational standards, you're going to or already have encountered the term "cumulative GPA." But what does it really mean, and how does it impact your academic standing? In this workshop, we'll unravel the intricacies of cumulative GPA, and provide clarity and insights to empower you on your academic path. Delicious traditional American grilled cheese sandwiches and French fries will be provided!
