Leading a Successful Research Team

Instructor: Gabriela Popescu, PhD

No research program can be stronger than its weakest component. In this workshop, we will reflect on the triple responsibility of any Principal Investigator: to our research, to our trainees, and to our team, such that these three basic elements are strong and aligned. We will consider how successful teams are essential to a robust research program, how to go about developing, maintaining, and adapting your team in an ever-changing environment. We will discuss the importance of mission-based job descriptions and performance evaluations, how your team fits in the larger organizational culture and climate, and how to encourage and support creativity by supporting connections and wellbeing within your team.
