Step 3: Register for Classes
Once you have completed Steps 1 and 2, academic advisors will help you register for classes.

Before You Register for Classes
Prior to working with an academic advisor to register for classes, you must:
- Complete the UB Financial Agreement. Read and accept under the To-Do tile found in the HUB Student Center (access through MyUB, requires UBIT name/password). Having trouble? Reference the step-by-step guide on the Student Accounts website.
- Enter your Personal and Emergency Contact Information. Complete under the To-Do tile found in the HUB Student Center (access through MyUB, requires UBIT name/password). Having trouble? Reference the step-by-step guide on the Office of the Registrar's website.
- (students in these majors only) Complete the Math Readiness Assessment (MRA) as soon as possible in order for your academic advisor to enroll you in the appropriate first-semester math course. Schedule your MRA through the Navigate app.
- (students interested in languages other than English) Review Languages Offered at UB and Placement Exam Information prior to working with your academic advisor.
- (international students only) Complete the online International Student Check-In up to and including the submission of the U.S. Visa Stamp e-form.
- Respond promptly to your academic advisor and take any actions they advise to finalize your class schedule.
STAY ON TRACK
Many tasks for new students are associated with holds on your HUB Student Center. For most students, once you have cleared hold(s) you are ready to register for classes!
You MUST complete Step 1: Complete the Advisement and Orientation Form AND Step 2: Submit Immunization Records (and the tasks listed above on this page) BEFORE you are able to register for classes.
How You Register for Classes
The process for getting registered for classes varies depending on your major and/or academic advising center.
After submitting your Advisement and Orientation Form, your academic advisor will contact you by email. You can anticipate hearing from your advisor within 2-3 business days after submitting your Advisement and Orientation Form starting May 18. If you submit your Advisement and Orientation form before May 15, you can expect to hear from your advisor by May 18.

Take prompt action on any messages from your academic advisor in your UB email.
After You Register for Classes
- Send your official high school and college transcript(s) to the Office of Admissions at ub-admissions@buffalo.edu. If you receive New York State financial aid, your final high school transcript must be on file by the first day of classes (August 24); learn more from Financial Aid.
Review additional details about sending transcripts to UB (scroll down, details under "Academics" tab). - Send your official exam scores (AP, CLEP, IB, etc.) to UB. Review the details about where to send your scores.
- (international students only) Review Maintaining F-1 Student Status resources. You must be registered full-time (12 or more credits, or less than 12 credits with appropriate authorization) by the end of the drop/add period for the upcoming semester.
- Download the Navigate app to support your academic experience. The Navigate app allows you to schedule appointments with academic advisors and tutors and locate helpful academic resources, such as Tutoring and Academic Support Services (TASS).
