Fetch

Important: The directions below are for accessing UBUnix with sftp to myfiles-sftp to upload and download files. If you are connecting to another system, such as the Computer Science and Engineering or the SENS systems, you must enter different hostname and password information that corresponds to that account.

1. To connect:
   • In the Hostname field, enter myfiles-sftp.buffalo.edu.
   • Enter your UBITName in the Username field.
   • Select SFTP. Enter your password in the Password field.
   • Click Connect.
     
2. You will automatically connect to your home space.
3. If you want to enter another directory, such as your UBfs space, select Path. Navigate to the correct directory.
4. To move files from your computer to your account, click Put.
5. Select the file's location from the drop-down menu, then select the file's name from the window below. Select Put at the bottom of the window.
6. To move files from your account to your computer, select the file in the main window, then click Get.

1. From the New Connection screen, after you have entered the Hostname, Username and Connect using fields, click the heart icon > Make shortcut...
2. Enter a name for the shortcut, such as Myfiles-sftp.buffalo.edu, and click OK
   • For security reasons it is recommended that you leave the password field blank and enter it each time you connect
   • If you click the arrow pointing down to reveal more options, you can also define and save your starting path in the Initial folder field,  e.g. starting in your home directory.
   • You can then quickly connect via the Shortcuts menu to the saved site.
