Located on the first floor of the North Campus Student Union is the Welcome Center. There the staff can provide you with event information, directions, room reservations and more. 

We are excited to introduce Victor’s Hub, a new collection of informal student spaces designed to give students more opportunities to relax, connect, create, and recharge between classes and throughout the day. Located in SU 132, Victor’s Hub includes:

Reading Nook

•  Enjoy a quiet place to red, study, or unwind.  This space is intended for individual reading and quiet reflection.

Board Game Room

•  Play, connect, and have fun.  This space is designed for students to enjoy board games and other recreational activities while building community.

Craft Room

•  Create, explore, and make something uniquely yours.  This space is available for students to participate in crafts, creative projects, and hands-on activities.

Multipurpose Room

•  A flexible space for connection, collaboration, and community.  This room may be used for student projects, workshops, and other activities.

Recharge Room

•  Take a moment to recharge.  This space is designed for students who need a quiet place to relax, decompress, or take a short break during the day.

Piano Room

•  Express yourself through music.  This space is available for students to practice, play and enjoy the piano in a respectful environment.

Reset Room

•  Coming Soon!  A place to pause and reset.  Whether you need a few moments to breathe, reflect, or regain focus, this room will be here for you.

We have created a new Quiet Study Lounge in SU 370, providing students with a dedicated space to focus, study, and work quietly between classes. We hope this new space will offer a comfortable option for students looking for a quieter place to spend time in the Student Union.

Express Yourself with Paint-A-Bull

Located outside the Student Union, Paint-A-Bull offers a unique opportunity for individuals and groups to creatively express themselves, promote events, or showcase school spirit. This initiative serves as a dynamic canvas for the University at Buffalo community.

Guidelines for Participation:

• Painting Hours: The bull is available for painting from sundown to sunup. Once the sun rises, the bull cannot be painted again until the following sundown.
• Supplies: Participants are responsible for providing their own painting materials.
• Consideration: Please be mindful of the bull and the broader community. Threatening, harassing, or obscene content is not permitted.
• Designated Area: Only the bull itself is to be painted. Surrounding areas should remain untouched.
• Free Expression: The Paint-A-Bull initiative is a platform for free expression. While diverse viewpoints are encouraged, all messages should be conveyed respectfully and thoughtfully.

Suggestions for a Positive Experience:

• Plan Ahead: Consider your design and message in advance to ensure a meaningful expression.
• Collaborate: Engage with peers to create a collaborative artwork that reflects collective ideas.
• Maintain Cleanliness: Dispose of materials responsibly and leave the area clean for others.

By adhering to these guidelines and suggestions, you contribute to a vibrant and respectful environment for all participants.

• North Campus:  The Interfaith Prayer, Meditation & Reflection spaces have been relocated to SU 373 and SU 377. The new locations provide a net increase in dedicated space and additional flexibility to better accommodate the needs of students using these spaces for prayer, meditation, reflection, and quiet contemplation.
• South Campus: 234 Diefendorf

UB students receive a semesterly quota of free pages to print assignments at any of 40 print station kiosks. Learn how to easily print your assignments from your smartphone (using the Wepa Print app), any computer, a computing site, a USB drive and more. http://www.buffalo.edu/ubit/services/print-anywhere/locations.html Located on the second floor of the Student Union.  

Clean, private, and comfortable space for nursing parents and\or those who need to have a private phone call (e.g. telehealth call). Located on the third floor of the Student Union, Room 325. Access is available to the room through the Student Union Welcome Center.

Bulletin boards are available throughout the Student Union.  Post, advertise events, job postings and apartment listings. Conveniently located on the first, second, and third floors.

Lockers are available through Student Unions and can be rented out by semester or full academic year.

Lockers are located in the Student Union across from “Victor’s Hub” SU 132

• Student Unions is not responsible for any damage, theft or vandalism that may occur to the locker and/or its contents.
• The lock provided by Student Unions is the only one that should be used.
• We reserve the right to cut any lock not issued by Student Unions.
• All lockers must be cleaned out and emptied on or before the last day of finals for the semester or academic year, pending the payment plan. The contents that remain in lockers after the last day will be disposed of at that time.

Step 2: Check your email for further instruction on how to pay. Payments must be made with a credit card.  Once rental payment is received you will be assigned a locker and receive the combination.

The Student Union digital signage supports the mission of the University by encouraging student involvement through digital advertising of campus events. These digital signs promote student activities, events, and educational opportunities by providing well-designed, eye-catching advertisements to a large internal audience and visitors. The goals of digital signage include:

• Enhancing communication across campus.
• Increasing event attendance.
• Informing the campus community of university news.
• Supporting UB’s mission of teaching, research, and service.

Due to the rotating nature of digital signage, advertisements must be concise and well-designed for maximum effectiveness. This document establishes minimum standards and guidelines to ensure accuracy, consistency, integrity, and protection of the University’s identity and image.

Acceptable Content

Digital signage content should align with the University’s mission and provide timely, relevant information of interest to students, faculty, and staff. Recognized student clubs, organizations, academic departments, and non-academic university offices may utilize the digital signage.

A usage fee may apply to academic and non-academic university departments.

Acceptable content includes:

• Announcements of significant student, faculty, or staff achievements, awards, or accomplishments.
• Information about upcoming events sponsored or coordinated by UB departments.
• Information about upcoming events sponsored or coordinated by recognized student organizations/clubs.
• Notifications of changes to regularly scheduled classroom activities or special events, including street closings and parking procedures.
• Emergency notifications from University Police and significant operational changes (e.g., class and activity cancellations).

Unacceptable Content (the following types of content are prohibited):

• Advertisements from non-University groups.
• Classified ads (e.g., cars, apartments, bicycles, computers).
• Personal messages between individuals.
• Political statements related to campus, local, state, or national elections.
• Promotion of recurring meetings (e.g., general body meetings) or weekly events.
• Promotion of information tables or vendor tables.
• Promotion of credit cards, alcohol, firearms, tobacco products, fireworks, candles, or other restricted/hazardous materials.
• Promotion of pornographic materials or products.
• Any content promoting illegal items, bootleg materials, or items violating copyright laws.

Time Sensitivity Guidelines

• Time-sensitive events may receive priority posting.
• Messages must be submitted at least 14 days before an event, and content will be removed no later than the first business day after the event.
• Advertisements will run for seven days before the event date.
• Each event is allowed only one advertisement.
• Advertisements will appear for eight seconds within a three-minute loop.

Format

• Aspect Ratio: 16:9 widescreen.
• Layout: The background template includes designated windows and scrolls; all content must fit within these areas.

Legibility

• Use bold, simple fonts for readability.
• Avoid light, ornate, or serif fonts with thin lines, as they may be difficult to read.
• Limit text to ensure viewers can read the message in the brief display time.
• Content should be clear and concise, considering that viewers are often walking past the displays.

Graphics & Colors

• Use high-contrast text and background combinations for readability.
• Avoid overly bright color combinations that may strain the eyes.
• Limit the number of images per advertisement; a single, high-quality photo is recommended.
