Richard Kim

Richard Kim is a seasoned entrepreneur who brought nearly a decade of experience working at early-stage tech startups to the University at Buffalo as the former Director of Startup Ventures. Before coming to UB, Richard was based out of Seoul, South Korea, where he wore many different hats for a number of startups over the years in industries ranging from insurance company CRM automation to K-pop concert crowdfunding.

In his role as the Director of Startup Ventures, Richard oversaw the Cultivator program, Buffalo Innovation Seed Fund investments, Buffalo Innovation Accelerator Fund grant awards, the Western New York Incubator Network, and START-UP NY. He also handled the building and launching of university IP-based spinout companies and was an instructor for the Regional I-Corps Program for the Interior Northeast Hub run by Cornell University.

Richard specializes in enterprise software sales and business development, early-stage startup strategy, and deep tech company building. He currently works as the Senior Director of Entrepreneurship for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City.
