It's startup time – once again – for 43North

As reported by Buffalo News, a diverse group of 16 startups is set to compete for five $1 million prizes in this year's 43North competition. Collectively, the semi-finalists have raised over $26 million in capital. Several are affiliated with well-known startup accelerators and programs, including the Y Combinator, MassChallenge, Techstars and UB's Cultivator

Nine of the 16 startups are from New York State, with three from Buffalo. Buffalo-based competitors include FoodNerd, which innovates shelf-stable food processing; Offerwell, an AI-driven platform for real estate agents; and BosonQ Psi, which saves money for industries like aerospace and heavy-industry manufacturing using a low-code/no-code simulation platform powered by quantum algorithms.

The semifinal pitches will occur on October 9, with eight startups advancing to the finals at Shea’s Performing Arts Center the next night. The winners must establish their operations in Buffalo for at least one year, promoting local economic growth and job creation.
