The American Association for the Advancement of Science, commonly known as AAAS has been a leading voice for stimulating and supporting dialogue on science between basic and clinical scientists and the lay public.
In this presentation we will build on the work of the AAAS which defines public engagement with science as “intentional, meaningful interactions that provide opportunities for mutual learning between scientists and members of the public”. The session will explore the achievements of the AAAS to help workshop participants use the various options available for engaging in open discussions about science with the public and achieve improved understanding and knowledge regarding the value of science to contemporary society.
