UB Sustainability

UB Sustainability works to create a more sustainable campus and community through our teaching, operations and interactions with the community. Our vision is to reduce the university's environmental impact through sustainability efforts.

Our Sustainability Efforts

  • Constructing the Solar Strand, an artistic and publicly accessible field of solar panels that generates carbon-free energy to power UB's campuses
  • Opening five new Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) buildings within one year
  • A dynamic new composting system
  • Implementation of a campus-wide single stream recycling initiative

Our focus on teaching sustainability brings together our faculty and students to learn about local and global sustainability challenges. We strive to set an excellent example for our students, faculty, staff and our community by pioneering changes on campus that reduce UB’s environmental footprint on the future.
