Common Questions

I'm having trouble logging in.

  • Make sure:
    • autocorrect isn't capitalizing the first letter of your UBITName: all UBITNames are lowercase.
    • your caps lock key isn't on when entering your password.
    • you are only entering your UBITName, not your full @buffalo.edu email address  requires full @buffalo.edu email address.
  • Check the UBIT Services Status to see if any services are unavailable or undergoing maintenance.
  • If you still can’t log in,  contact the UBIT Help Center.

How can I make sure I completely log out?

Set your browser to be secure so you are completely logged out of UBITName Login services. Just logging out and closing your browser isn't enough.

I bookmarked the login page but I get a UBITName login error when I go to it.

When bookmarking a page, bookmark the service URL, such as myub.buffalo.edu or ublearns.buffalo.edu, and not the login page that prompts you for your UBITName and password.

How do I know if it's a real UBITName Login page or a phishing attempt?

  • Hover over links and make sure they go to a buffalo.edu address, and check the URL to see if it is a buffalo.edu site.
  • Check to see if there are active phishing attempts targeting UB that look like what you are logging into.
  • Contact the UBIT Help Center if you're not sure.
