Faculty: Empower accessibility with Panopto recordings

In an effort to enhance educational accessibility, UBIT continues to integrate Panopto's automated lecture capture into classrooms. 

Presently, 123 UB classrooms offer this service, transforming the availability of lecture recordings for students requiring accommodations.

Michael Canfield joined UB in January 2023 as an IT Communications Specialist for UBIT. A former newspaper reporter with a background in higher ed communication, Michael is also a volunteer firefighter. When he’s not writing or learning about all things UBIT, Michael likes to spend time with his wife and two English bulldogs, Franky and Grace. He’s also an avid student of the Battle of Gettysburg and a (sometimes) hockey writer.

The availability of Panopto recordings can be restricted to the specific student or students who have requested accommodations. Automated captioning comes as a standard feature on all Panopto recordings, providing an additional level of support.

Requesting recordings

Students seeking accommodations can request lecture recordings by providing an accommodation memo from Accessibility Resources. The request form faculty use for recordings is easily accessible online.
