Changes to Tech Squad, printing and computing site hours

Support hours and locations for the UBIT Help Center, student printing and public computing sites have changed for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester.


Classroom support, call center and walk-up

The UBIT Help Center's call center and classroom support hours are now 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

UB Tech Squad's Silverman service desk will close effective 5 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020. Tech Squad consultations will be available by appointment.

iMacs with web cameras available in Silverman for exams and coursework

If your instructor requires you to use a web camera for a course or exam, we have iMacs available for student use on the 3rd floor of Silverman Library in Capen. These machines will allow you to use  Respondus LDB Lab for proctured exams. 

Student printing and public computing sites

Effective March 23, 2020, student printing is only available on Silverman Library's 2nd floor from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.  

As a social distancing precaution against Covid-19, UBIT has disabled every other seat in the following public computing sites:

  • Capen (Silverman Library) 2nd and 3rd floors             
  • Student Union standup workstations

The following public computer sites are closed for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester:

  • Baldy 206
  • Capen 201A
  • O'Brian
  • Filmore 167
  • Clinton 114
  • Clement 128
  • Abbott 1st, 2nd, 3rd floors
  • Lockwood 2nd floor Cybrary
  • Lockwood Library 2nd and 3rd floors
