An updated and improved UBITName Manager is now available for all UB students, faculty, and staff with a new website address: account.buffalo.edu.

What is the UBITName Manager?

The UBITName Manager is the website where you:

  • Activate your UBITName when you first join UB
  • Set or change your password
  • Manage your account recovery options

Recovery options include:

  • A phone number for text/SMS messages (recommended)
  • A non-UB email address
  • Security questions

If you forget your UBITName password, go to account.buffalo.edu to:

  • Request a one-time PIN by text or email
  • Answer your security questions

If you can't access your recovery options, contact the UBIT Help Center to verify your identity and receive a one-time password.

Recovery option requirements

  • At least one recovery option is required for anyone activating their UBITName for the first time. UB Information Technology recommends setting up multiple recovery options.
  • Any UB students, faculty, and staff who already have multiple recovery options set up for their UBITName may continue to use them.

Improved mobile and accessibility support

The updated UBITName Manager includes:

  • Better performance on mobile devices
  • Improved support for assistive technologies
  • A new look and feel
  • Easier self-service password reset methods

Keep your UBITName and password safe

UBIT recommends changing your UBITName password on occasion to better protect your account from outside threats. For more tips on keeping your UBITName and password safe, including tips for strong passwords and the dangers of password theft, visit the UBIT website.

Need help managing your account?

The UBIT Help Center is available for faculty and staff and the UB Tech Squad is here to help students. If you forget your password and don't have any security questions set up, contact the Help Center to reset your account.
