UB-based Dimien acquired by Boston lithium metal battery company

As reported by the Buffalo News and Buffalo Business First, Dimien—the Buffalo-based battery and clean energy tech startup that started in a UB lab—has been acquired by Pure Lithium, a Boston-based company at the cutting edge of clean energy technology.

Dimien’s vanadium-based cathode material will be used to commercialize a unique lithium metal battery. The company has been developing high-capacity batteries for use in electric vehicles and other storage applications, including domestic energy storage.

Dimien, which has been backed by Launch NY, won the UB's Henry A. Panasci Jr. Technology Entrepreneurship Competition in 2013 and was a finalist in the 2018 43North competition. Additionally, the company received support from UB's Business & Entrepreneur Partnerships office, including shared instrumentation services and incubator space to advance product development, and co-funding to explore new advanced materials.
