UB students using newer Android devices may encounter a problem when trying to connect to the campus network using a Chrome browser.
When individuals try to onboard an Android device by typing connect.buffalo.edu into their Chrome browser’s address bar, Chrome on Android, by default, tries to connect using the secure HTTPS protocol (https://connect.buffalo.edu/). This URL does not work.
The correct URL for accessing the university’s ClearPass portal is http://connect.buffalo.edu/. This URL automatically directs Individuals to the ClearPass page. This may need to be done manually, as Chrome on Android tries to connect using the secure HTTPS protocol, which does not work.
If you need help connecting to Wi-Fi or other UBIT services, contact the UBIT Help Center at buffalo.edu/ubit/help or 716-645-3542, or stop by the UBIT Help Center walk-up location on the 3rd floor of Silverman (Capen) Library. UB students can also book appointments with the UB Tech Squad online; they will meet you anywhere on North or South Campus for free.
