Offices of Record
An Office of Record is the specific university unit or department that is officially responsible for maintaining, preserving, and disposing of a particular record. The Office of Record has the authority to ensure the integrity and longevity of the record, as well as its proper destruction or transfer to a proper archive when its retention period is over.
If your office is responsible for maintaining the original copy of a record, you are the Office of Record for that document.
You must follow the appropriate record retention schedules.
Record Coordinator
A Record Coordinator is the primary resource in a business office who interprets policies and retention requirements related to the specific record type for which they have been assigned responsibility; also responsible for providing guidance to departmental record custodians pertaining to the retention and destruction of these records.
