Direct Deposit Enrollment Request for State Employees
State employees can request direct deposit enrollment, changes or cancellations.
Processing Time for Direct Deposit:
It can take one to two pay cycles for new enrollments or changes to take effect. If you don't have a direct deposit account on file, a paper check will be mailed to your address on record.
A Copy of Your UB Card is Required
As an added measure of security, we require that you submit a copy of your official UB Card with your direct deposit request form.

Instructions
- Using either the Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge web browser, go to www.suny.edu/hrportal
(Please note: The NYS Payroll Online website does not support other browsers. If you see an error message when trying to log in, check for the latest version of your browser or clear your browser's cache.)
- If prompted, select Buffalo Univ
- If prompted, log in with your UBITName and password
- Click on the NYS Payroll Online icon
Please Note: The first time you log in you will need the last 4 digits of your SSN and your NYS Employee ID number (this number is different from your UB Person number) which may be found on your current pay statement or direct deposit advice or at the top of the SUNY portal screen. You will also be required to enter your date of birth using the following format XX/XX/XXXX (ex. 01/25/1976). You will see an error message if you attempt to enter it in any other format, including using hyphens instead of forward slashes.
- Click on Update Direct Deposit
- Follow the instructions on the page to enroll in or change your direct deposit

- Enter requested information into the form
- Print the form
- Get required signatures
- Scan a copy of the signed form for your records
- Send the original, completed, signed form and a copy of your UB Card to:
