Connecting to a Guest Wi-Fi Network
UB provides access via a browser for guests.
Method 1: Use your Google account
A Google login is great for a quick connection to a Web browser. Sessions are limited to 30 minutes.
1. Select UB Connect from the available Wi-Fi networks on your device.
2. Open a Web browser and enter http://connect.buffalo.edu in the address bar.
3. Click Login as Guest.
4. Click the Google button on the screen.
5. Enter your Google credentials as indicated, then click Log In.
6. A window from UB Aruba CPPM Captive Portal will appear. Click Continue.
Method 2: Create a Guest Account
Connecting with a registered guest account is ideal for guests who need sessions that last longer than 30 minutes.
1. Select UB Connect from the available Wi-Fi networks on your device.
2. Open a Web browser and enter http://connect.buffalo.edu in the address bar.
3. Click Login as Guest.
4. Enter:
- Your first and last name in the Your Name field.
- Your non-UB email address in the Email Address field.
5. Check the box to accept the terms of use.
6. Click Create Account.
7. A browser will open. You have 30 minutes to check your email for your password so you can log in.
8. Go to connect.buffalo.edu
9. Click Login as Guest
10. Decide how long you need to connect:
- 30 minutes or less:
- Enter your email address in the Username field.
- Enter the password sent to your email in the Password field.
- Click Log In.
- Enter your email address in the Username field.
- Up to 6 months:
- Click Register This Device.
- Enter:
- Your email address in the Username field.
- The guest password sent to your email in the Password field.
- Click Log In.
- Enter a unique name for your device, such as Jane Doe's Macbook.
- If the MAC Address is not filled in, enter the MAC Address for your device.
- Click Create Device.
- Click Register This Device.
Connecting to eduroam
Visitors whose schools participate in eduroam can connect to eduroam at UB. Configure your device while still at your school. Once at UB:
- Select eduroam from the available Wi-Fi networks.
- Log in using your school email address and password.
Contact your school's IT support for help using eduroam at UB, not UB's IT support.
You are bound by the host institution's network and security policies. Some services may not be available if they rely on something prohibited or blocked by UB. eduroam is a secure Wi-Fi network.
