Reporting Significant Financial Obligations

UB works to maintain the integrity of its research and related activities. This includes helping investigators identify and manage any potential financial conflicts of interest or significant obligations so we prevent bias and safeguard research objectivity.

In compliance with federal regulations and university policies, this office carefully reviews disclosures, effectively manages any conflict of interest cases and reports to appropriate federal agencies as needed.

Filing Deadline for Significant Financial Obligations

UB's annual filing deadline is Nov. 1.

UB's Investigator Conflict of Interest policy complies with Public Health Service (PHS) regulations and applies these guidelines to all sponsored research.

  • All investigators must update their financial disclosure statements annually each November;
  • And whenever they acquire a new significant financial interest.
  • Investigators funded by the PHS also must complete an online conflict of interest mini-course through CITI.
