My UBITName was compromised

If you were notified that the UBIT Help Center has reset your password to the initial activation state due to your UBITName being compromised, get a new one-time password so that you can set a new, secure password.

Choose from the following options:

Option 1. Upload the following items to our secure UBbox folder:

  1. A document with:
    • Your full name 
    • A non-UB email address or telephone number you can be reached at during
  2. A copy of photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport) that:
    • Is government-issued
    • Shows your date of birth
    • Is in English
    • Is legible
    • Is current (not expired)

UBIT Help Center staff will contact you at the  non-UB email address and/or telephone number you provide.

Option 2: Bring photo ID in person

  • Access is currently restricted to UB students, faculty and staff. Bring photo ID to the UB Tech Squad counter in 3rd floor Silverman (North Campus). Your photo I.D. must meet the same requirements as uploading, above. A UB Card with your picture on it is only accepted at the UBIT Help Center walk-up counter.

Option 3: Call the UBIT Help Center

  • Call 716-645-3542 during business hours and verify your identity with UBIT Help Center staff using multiple data points so we can be sure it’s really you.

The claim state on your account will be reset to "Unclaimed." This will:

  • Remove your current password
  • Remove any self-service reset mechanisms (phone/text/security questions), if you set any
  • Set Activation State (visible in UBIDM) to Unclaimed

A new One-Time-Password will be generated for you that you will use to claim your account and set a new password.
